April Gornik: Landscapes by Paul Tschinkel is available at ART/ new york.

No. 62 April Gornik: Landscapes (c) 2008 running time: 28 minutes.

April Gornik paints evocative landscapes with roots in minimalism as well as the conceptual avant garde of the 70's. Her haunted imagery is based on photographs that she manipulates to make highly personal work filled withsensual, sexual and metaphorical overtones. Gornik's intuitive relationship to nature offers a fresh look at the landscape that seems ever threatened, distant and disappearing.Seen on this program are two exhibitions at the Edward Thorp Gallery in New York and a mid-career retrospective at the Neuberger Museum.  Interviews are with critic/art historian Donald Kuspit, art dealer Renato Danese, curator Dede Young and April Gornik in her New York City studio.
